Bethany has been competing at the national-level of eventing since she was a young teen. During her childhood she was first introduced to the discipline of eventing through the United States Pony Club (USPC), where she had much success competing at the MCTA level on her pony, Penny for Your Thoughts. After obtaining her C3 rating from the USPC, Bethany moved forward to join the United States Eventing Association's (USEA) Area VIII Young Riders. This began her national competition career, where she has achieved many top place finishes.

Some of Bethany's early eventing achievements include: In 2005, finished 3rd in the CCI*/National Championship division at the Mid-South Three Day Event; with an overall 5th place finish within Area VIII for the year 2005; and an overall 10th place finish in the nation for the year 2005 in the adult amateur Prelim division, aboard homebred mare Precious Tango by Contango. In 2006, 1st place finish at the Area VIII Regional Championships held at Richland Park in the Open Prelim division, and an overall 4th place finish in the prelim division within Area VIII for the year 2006.

In addition to training with her mother, she worked with Stuart Young Black for more than ten years and presently is working with Buck Davidson and Robin Walker.

While eventing is Bethany's primary focus, she also trains and competes in dressage. Over the years Bethany has worked with top dressage instructors Hans Biss and Ralf Isselhorst, trained and competed thru Third-level dressage, performed as a demo rider in USDF instructor and judge workshops, as well as, audited numerous dressage seminars, clinics, USDF Instructor symposiums, USDF Young Horse symposiums, and more.

Bethany also graduated with University Honors from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a B.A. in Women's Studies and a minor in Environmental Studies.
